What are timber reveals? and Why do windows need timber reveals for installation?
In its simplest form, a reveal is the timber that surrounds a window or door, you might refer to the bottom reveal(though technically, only the bottom horizontal component of a window is a "sill"). Timber reveals can assist in fitting the window or door into the opening and architraves are attached to the reveal to cover the gap left by the plasterboard. Reveals are useful but might not be right choice for every job due to different wall types or preferences.
What does a window reveal look like?
Actually, it's just timber surround of a window that the window frame itself is attached to.
Imagine this: if you sit a pot flower against the window in your living room so it can get some more sun, you'll rest the flower on the flat timber edge that jut out a bit away from the glass. This space is the window reveal. Pls find the below attached picture is an example of AMJ window with timber reveal pre-intalled at AMJ factory fyi.

Why it requires a window reveal for installation?
A window reveal is used to fix the window itself into the stud wall frame. The main pupose of a reveal is to provide extra support to the aluminium frame of the window unit, no matter which types of reveals you choose. Mostly brick vaneer wall structure or similar wall types will require a window reveal for installation, if concrete or double brick construction do not need a window reveal, but other materials for windows installations.
All in all, the fundamental purpose of all window reveals is to provide stability.
How many situations will there be if with a window reveal?
We'll take a look at the most common types of window reveals.
The most common type of reveal is"boxed". In this configuration, there is a window reveal fitted to four sides of the window. That's to say, the flat timber surface jutting out from the glass exists on each "side" of the window.
A boxed window is looks like below:

Another situation is there is no reveal on bottom, this situation mostly happens to sliding doors, french doors, hinged doors, bi-fold doors. there is just 3 sides with timber reveals around(top, left side, right side). pls find the picture as below for reference:
