Which Windows Styles is best for ventilations for your house?
When choosing windows for a home, many clients worry about material and style, but few remember to consider functionality as well. It is important to choose the best styles that will allow for ventilation and air flow. This will improve the air quality in your home and boost energy efficiency because of the all-natural cooling. Granted, all operating windows provide ventilation, but some are better than others.

Awning Windows
An awning window is hinged at the top and opens outward. You can open this type of window even when it’s raining. However, it creates a smaller opening compared to other window styles. You can get an awning window in smaller rooms in your home that don’t need that much ventilation.

Casement Windows
To enjoy maximum ventilation, casement windows are your best bet. They consist of one sash that cranks open completely. This design allows them to direct and control drafts effectively, as you can utilize 100% of the window opening to expel stale indoor air. When placed on two sides of your home without any barrier in between, they provide excellent cross-ventilation.

Sliding Windows
Sliding windows have sashes that glide over a fixed sash. This window style is ideal for homes with limited indoor and outdoor opening space. They are also a good option for walkways or patios as they will not create obstructions but still contribute to your home’s ventilation. However, you can only open half of the window.

Louver Windows
The other window type recommended by the government for encouraging airflow in your home is louvre windows.
With the ability to open out to be as much as 95%, louvre windows are ideal for encouraging ventilation in your home. Their variable opening angles also allow you to control and direct this ventilation as desired and required. Importantly, while second storey louvre windows have restricted openings for safety (much like most other types of windows), they still invite plenty of ventilation into your home

Bi-fold Windows
If you want maximum ventilation, you can’t look past bi fold windows.
These windows fold all the way back to provide a large opening area that’s almost the size of the window frame itself.
Unlike the other window options, there are limited screening options for bi-fold windows. Because they protrude to the width of each panel on the outside, bi-fold windows can only be installed in areas with room for large opening spaces.
